If you’ve had enough of battle royale games like PUBG and Fortnite then perhaps what you need is a… royal battle. Yes it sounds similar but it’s actually quite different and will hopefully bring you closer to your friends. Well, so long as you don’t create too much of a rivalry between each other.
These royal battles can be found in Big Crown: Showdown transport you back to medieval times to fight against four players in local and online battles. There are no guns, no random loot drops, and heck there’s not even a battle bus here. Instead, the battles take place across gauntlets full of deathly drops, swinging blades, and fire pits. The perfect place for you and three friends to figure out who’s the most adept at platforming challenges.

While dodging hazards is a challenge what makes surviving even harder in Big Crown: Showdown is that the camera moves automatically across the level. That means, if you don’t keep pace, you’ll quickly fall out of favour and off the level.

Fortunately, the combat itself is all managed with a single button – just press it to swing your weapon, and if you make contact with another player they’ll be sent flying. That makes each level a frantic hop across dangers while trying to get one up against your mates in shining armour.
