Borderlands 3’s endgame content lets you farm loot forever

Circle of Slaughter returns from Borderlands 1, while Proving Grounds lets you gain loot forever

Borderlands 3’s endgame content has been unveiled. On stage at Gamescom 2019’s Opening Night Live, developer Paul Sage showed off wave survival mode Circle of Slaughter, which returns from the original games, as well as Proving Grounds, which offers multiple objectives, allowing you to focus on a central mission as well as optional objectives. Killing certain enemies, avoiding death, and completing the challenge in a certain time will all offer better loot.

In the wake of the Gamescom reveal, Gearbox released a blog post which explores the two challenges. Circle of Slaughter arenas will be found across the galaxy, sponsored by the bombastic Torgue corporation, but once in there, you won’t be able to rely on your friends – no-one will be around to revive you if you’re downed.

Circle of Slaughter events are available throughout the game, but as you progress, you’ll be able to access the Proving Grounds, which are themed gauntlets, guarded by a character known as the Overseer, who wants to see how you fare on behalf of his mysterious masters.

Beating all of the Proving Grounds’ three areas and final boss in 30 minutes will offer better rewards, and completing them without dying will offer even more. You’ll always get good loot at the end of the gauntlet, but pulling off these optional objectives will offer the best rewards.

Gearbox has previously said that Borderlands 3 endgame will also have raids, but Sage didn’t mention anything about them this time around. Hopefully, that means that Gearbox has some more tricks up its sleeve, but we’re sure to find out more later this week.
