Getting to know Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel’s vault hunters

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is little over a month away, so now is probably a good time to get to know the vault hunters – the four gun-toting protagonists of Borderlands’ middle child.

If you’ve played the previous games –  if you’re interested in this then you almost certainly have – you’ll already know them all. Some you’ll remember as enemies, and others allies. Take a look at the new video below to get the skinny on them all.

Both Wilhelm and Nisha you’ll probably recall from Borderlands 2, where you killed them. You bad person. But they were pretty bad, too, being minions of Handsome Jack – so you really did the world a favour. In The Pre-Sequel, though, they are yet to meet their end. Wilhelm is still completely human, but that will change as he levels up, and Nisha… well Nisha is still a very bad lady with a very bad whip.

Athena was a companion in the Borderlands DLC episode, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx. What sets her apart, say Gearbox and 2K Australia, is that she uses a shield. They’ve wanted to throw a shield mix for years, but until now had worried that it simply wouldn’t be interesting enough, because it’s slow and defensive. But Athena seems to take her cues from Captain America, flinging that shield around, smacking enemies in the face.

Finally, there’s Claptrap. The irritating joker of the group, and a series mainstay. Apparently he’s beloved by Randy Pitchford, and the head honcho really wanted to make him a playable character – so he is.

Are any of this lot tickling your fancy?
