Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gunsmith is a new system for the series that massively increases the number of attachments you can equip to your weapons, while also diversifying the positive and negative effects of equipping each one. With five attachments to choose for each weapon from a whopping nine attachment or perk slots, the potential for drastically altering your weapons is massive.
In fact, it’s possible to to completely change a weapon’s category in Gunsmith. For example, you can strap a drum mag, long barrel, heavy stock, FMJ rounds, and the optic of your choice onto an AK-47 to turn it into something resembling and RPD. Alternatively, you can remove the stock, shorten the barrel, add Sleight of Hand, strap on a red dot sight, and give it a compensator so you end up with a weapon that closely resembles and AK-74U SMG.
Infinity Ward is aiming to have 60 attachments available for each primary weapon, including weapon perks, while secondaries will have roughly 30 attachments to choose from. Here are the full Gunsmith attachment lists for a primary weapon we saw at a recent hands-on event.

That’s a lot of attachments for a single weapon, but for the time being it’s tough to tell if every single attachment offers bespoke pros and cons. For example, a number of the scopes appear to simply be down to personal preference.
It’s also worth noting that this is just a list of attachments for one assault rifle, so you can expect to see different categories of attachments depending on what you’re modifying. For example, the pistols have different trigger actions you can choose from.
