Corsair’s new DDR4 RAM modules are the company’s fastest ever 128GB kits

Corsair 128GB DDR4 RAM

Hey, no. I’m not judging. If you really need 128GB of DDR4 3,000MHz RAM that’s your business. Perhaps you like to swap a lot of raw 4K 90 fps video files between the disks of your multi-monitor setup, each screen running a different Premiere Pro window. Maybe you just want to use your RAM as actual storage via a RAM disk. What ever the reason for your ludicrously high random access memory demands, Corsair’s new Vengeance LPX DDR4 range aims to meet them.

The LPX modules have a low profile design, so they’ll fit snugly beneath larger CPU cooler designs on your motherboard. That’s not really the big sell though – they’re absolutely lightning.

Not as fast as G.Skill’s frankly preposterous 4266MHz Trident Z DDR4 RAM, admittedly. But fast enough to deck out all slots of an X99 motherboard without dropping below 3000MHz. In fact if you can stand to downsize a bit on capacity, the operating speeds get quicker.

The 32GB (4x8GB) kit is the quickest at 3600 MHz with latency timings of18-19-19-39, sucking up 1.35V. The 64GB (4 x 16GB) flavour runs at 3333MHx be default at16-18-18-36 timings. Both 32GB and 64GB kits are optimised for Intel’s Z170 chipset.

The big boy 128GB (8x16GB) kit features timings of16-18-18-36 and sucks up 1.35V like the others, but is designed to max out the X99 platform rather than Z170.

All LPX RAM modules are X.M.P. 2.0 compatible, which means they’ll support one-click overclocking. The low-profile design of these modules means they’re not purpose built for aggressive overclocking, since they don’t have big head spreaders like some other designs. It’s hard to imagine a scenario in which 3000MHz isn’t going to be enough, though.

If you want the 128GB kit, you might want to sit down for this: they’re on sale for £939.99/$1174.99. Yep. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the 32GB kit will set you back £314.99/$349.99, which is faintly more plausible.

Thanks, Hexus.
