After the hugely successful EMS One Counter-Strike tournament in Katowice, Poland, ESL is gearing up to host yet another big event. Once again, a $250,000 community-funded prize pool is up for grabs as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams duke it out, this time in Cologne, Germany.
ESL One Cologne 2014 will take place during this year’s Gamescom between August 14th – 17th.
“After our thrilling event in Katowice, we are excited to once again host a tournament with a community funded prize pool,” says Ulrich Schulze, managing director of Pro Gaming at ESL. “eSports is a great place to be right now and with the community growing as it is, we’re happy to be given the opportunity to showcase the best in competitive gaming once again. The biggest gaming event in the world is the perfect place to host the best CS:GO teams from all over the globe and all of us here at ESL are looking very much forward to what gamescom has to offer.”
The three-day tournament will feature the top eight teams from Katowice along with eight victorious teams from the regional qualifiers. Katowice champions Virtus.Pro will, of course, be among the invited teams.
Before all this kicks off, there’s ESL One Frankfurt, for the Dota 2 crowd. Two days of MOBA shenanigans for the chance to snatch up a prize pool of $100,000. It begins on June 28th.
