Only in a game like Danganronpa could I get reasonably excited when characters with subtitles like “Ultimate Astronaut” and “Ultimate Tennis Pro” are introduced. And so, here we are: I’m very excited about a silly game with very silly character designs. They’ve been introduced – with real names as well as these subtitles, I should add – in the first of a new series of trailers for Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony called Ultimate Roll Call.

You can watch the trailer above to meet – and hear the voices of – Ryoma Hoshi, Kaito Momota, Himiko Yumeno, Angie Yonaga, and Monodam. The last of those isn’t a human, but one of Monokuma’s siblings, a robot bear. Look, I think you’d have more questions than answers if I went in to detail on why there’s a family of evil bears.
One of the recurring character designs in Danganronpa is that they’re the best or most passionate about something – in the case of Ryoma Hoshi, for example, he’s the best tennis player around. He even killed members of a crime syndicate with steel tennis balls according to a profile onGematsu. Hardcore.
Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony is coming on September 26, so we can probably expect more of these roll call videos very soon. Hopefully, the game’s ban in South Korea doesn’t change that.
