GOG’s Piñata Madness sale includes Deadlight: Director’s Cut for free

GOG sale

Sales where games are simply reduced in price are passé now, it appears. Trading cards, mini-games, mystery prizes, and now there’s the GOG’s Piñata Madness – twists everywhere. The latter kicked off today and it’s essentially a loot box setup: spend $3, get a piñata to smash, and inside you’ll find a random game.

Chuck $3/£2.25 into GOG’s gaping maw and you’ll have a chance to win a game worth between $5.99 and $44.99 including Pillars of Eternity, Shadow Warrior 2, Heroes of Might and Magic 5, Victor Vran, and Saints Row 4. And don’t worry – you won’t get any duplicates. The sale will last until 21:59 UTC, August 21, but you’ll be able to open any piñatas you’ve already purchased for a week after the sale ends.

Several games are in a regular sale, too, including Owlboy, Darkest Dungeon, and Rime, if you don’t fancy taking a risk. And if none of them tickle your fancy, GOG’s also giving away side-scrolling zombie platformer Deadlight: Director’s Cut for free for the next couple of days.
