Prince Uldren shoots (kills?) Cayde-6 in Destiny 2: Forsaken

Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion just got a brief new story trailer, which gives a little insight into a plot twist that may prove to be less dramatic than it appears.

Prince Uldren of the Reef is indeed alive, as Grimoire cards from the last year of the original Destiny indicated, and it looks like he’s got a score to settle with Nathan Fillion’s Cayde-6 – aka, the one member of Destiny’s cast you really like.

In the new trailer, Uldren has shot and apparently killed Cayde-6. He picks up Cayde’s favourite hand cannon – Ace of Spades – and walks into what looks like a portal, followed by a group of Fallen. This likely confirms that Uldren has successfully brokered an alliance with a Fallen clan.

As an Exo, though, Cayde is unlikely to be ‘really’ dead. Even considering his Ghost also gets shot, this is a pretty low-stakes execution. Chances are he’ll get repaired and rebooted at the end of the Forsaken campaign, but that’s speculative on our part, we suppose.

You can check out the trailer below, and also our guide to catch up on everything about September’s big expansion including theDestiny 2: Forsaken release date, raid, annual pass and more.

E3 this year is where Destiny 2’s biggest rivals have finally shown their cards, with The Division 2 announcing raids and a year of totally free DLC, and Anthem showing plenty of gameplay. Destiny 2’s expansion has a few months’ headstart, but will it be enough to keep ahead in what’s sure to be a bloodthirsty battle of the hobby games?
