That was quick – Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is getting its first story DLC in a few weeks

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided DLC

A new story DLC has been announced for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided , only a week after the release of the game. The DLC adds a new mission to the game, hooking up Adam Jensen with an old friend, sort of.

Do you think Deus Ex is GOTY material? Or will one of our upcoming PC games knock it off?

Frank Pritchard is returning from Human Revolution in the new DLC, System Rift. Pritchard and chisel-elbowed protagonist Adam Jensen had a hate-hate relationship in Human Revolution, so it’ll be interesting to see how that’s advanced in the years since the events of that game.

In System Rift, Jensen has to assist Pritchard in hunting down information on the mysterious Santeau Group, by breaking into the Palisade Bank again. The mission will apparently shed some light on who the Illuminati really are.

Why not watch us break into that very same bank in a mission in the main game:

One of the main criticisms of Mankind Divided is how it ends so abruptly. There’s also a mission chopped out opf the game, in the Jensen Stories section, seemingly for no reason at all.

Releasing a new story DLC so close to release will surely open publisher Square Enix up to criticism. After all, it’s not like they’ve had developers Eidos Montreal record all the dialogue, write the DLC and release it in a matter of weeks.

We’ll find out how essential to the main plot it is soon, as System Rift is due for release on September 23.
