Brutal Doom has earned its name. The mod, which has been in development since 2010, takes id’s lauded FPS series and then turns the dial up to the point where the dial explodes in a shower of blood and organs. It’s Doom, with more gore, from pools of blood to dismemberment, cinematic executions and more interactivity in levels.
Brutal Doom v20 launched on Friday, after 18 months in development. Take a look at the official trailer and soak in all the gibs.
Here’s a preview of some of the new features:
This update includes a long, long list of fixes as well as new animations, guns and lots of new art. It’s the little things that I like: making bloody footprints after walking through puddles of gore, bullets ricocheting off cyberdemon armour and “greatly improved driping [sic] blood effects.”
Both mod and update are free, but you’ll need a copy of whatever version of Doom you want to play it on.
