Dragon's Dogma 2 Magick Archer: four archers, each holding a bow.

How do you unlock the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Magick Archer vocation? If firing regular arrows just isn’t enough for you, if you long for a more potent ranged option to compliment your bruiser-like Fighter Pawn, then the Magick Archer is the job for you. However, this vocation isn’t available immediately, and you have to go to some lengths to unlock it.

The Dragon’s Dogma 2 vocations are varied and offer players a way to change how they battle it out with foes completely. The Dragon’s Dogma 2 Thief, for instance, thrives on being up close and personal; clinging to large enemies to deal immense amounts of damage. The Dragon’s Dogma 2 Magick Archer, however, prefers to stay on the backline, conjuring spells using their bow.

How to unlock the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Magick Archer vocation

To unlock the Magick Archer vocation, first, you must travel to the Volcanic Island Southeast of Battahl. You can enter this region by traversing Drabnir’s Grotto or, if you’re far enough in the story, by using the gate in Bakbattahl. Ultimately, you’re looking for Cliodhna’s house, located on a small island off the coast. This is the person who will teach you the Magick Archer vocation, but they need your help first.

Cliodhna needs you to find her husband, Gautstafr, and help him with his bad back. The poor gentleman can be found on the road near the campsite as you enter the region. Gautstafr is shuffling along, trying to reach the hot springs to fix his back, and it’s your mission to get him there. Feeding him herbs will ease Gautstafr’s pain and enable him to walk, but you can also pick him up to speed things along.

The hot springs aren’t far from where you find Gautstafr, but there are plenty of enemies between you and your destination. If you do get into a fracas, make sure you leave Gautstafr far from the action, lest he be injured even further. Once he’s had a nice soak, head back to Cliodhna’s house, where you’ll be awarded with the Magick Archer vocation.
