What are the best skills for a Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warfarer? As a Warfarer can use every weapon skill in the game, this is a difficult question to answer and depends entirely on what kind of playstyle you’d like to adopt. Enjoy casting spells? Well, you’re likely to take the best Mage and Sorcerer weapon skills with a dash of Magick Archer. More into raw melee damage? Focus on Warrior skills with a Thief’s high-damage output when speed is required. Truly, the options are near limitless, but we’ve put together what we think is the best set of weapon skills for Warfarer.

Does the Warfarer seem like a bit too much for you in Dragon’s Dogma 2? Check out our Dragon’s Dogma 2 Magick Archer skills guide to learn all about our personal favorite class. Our runner up is the Mystic Spearhand, which combines magic-based maneuverability with powerful melee strikes. Luckily, we also have a Dragon’s Dogma 2 Mystc Spearhand skills guide for your viewing pleasure. Otherwise, read on to find out the best Warfarer build.

How to unlock Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warfarer vocation

To unlock the Warfarer, you must visit Lamond, an untrustworthy fellow located in the Volcanic Island Camp, far to the south of Vermund and east of where the game begins in the Excavation Site.

He’s located up a set of ladders in a little hot spring area; here, you must bring him 3 newt liquors before he’ll bequeath you the quest. Newt liquors are made from combining fruit wine or saurian tails. Otherwise, you can find one to the west in the Windwalker’s Home as well as in Bakbattal’s Forbidden Magic Laboratory.

Best Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warfarer skills

The Warfarer can equip three different weapon types to earn access to the weapon skills of three different vocations. With the Rearmament skill, obtained from Lamond when you receive the class, the Warfarer can switch between these weapons at will. However, as only four weapon skills, including rearmament, can be equipped at once, we recommend combining two vocations rather than 3 to better receive the best of both worlds. After experimenting with the Warfarer, we’ve come to the conclusion that two vocations, when combined together, stand above all other combinations to provide both power and utility. The best Warfarer build is the Mystic Spearhand and Magick Archer build.

The best Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warfarer skills are:

  • Rearmament
  • Arctic Bolt (Magick Archer)
  • Dragouin’s Foin (Mystic Spearhand)
  • Mirour Shelde (Mystic Spearhand)

Rearmament

Rearmament is used to swap between a magick bow and duospear at will, granting you access to Arctic Bolt or Dragouin’s Foin and Mirour Shelde, respectively. This also allows you to make use of the Magick Archer’s powerful Pinpoint Volley and Rivet Shot along with the Mystic Spearhand’s paralyzing Redoubled Bolt. This Warfarer build has nothing to fear from both melee and ranged enemies.

Arctic Bolt

Arctic Bolt is simply too good at staggering big foes. When charged up fully after a few seconds, the massive ice block slams into enemies big and small, either sending them flying or almost knocking them off their feet. Ice damage type is also incredibly valuable against the likes of dragons and other fiery lizards, making it your best option for a heavy hitting, high damage attack against the widest variety of enemies that you’ll face, especially nearing the end-game.

Dragouin’s Foin

This Mystic Spearhand skill is one of the best ways to close to melee-range or to dash out of the way of harm. If you want to get close to take advantage of a downed enemy, switching from magick bow to duospear and casting Dragouin’s Foin is a stellar way to get in close for the kill. This provides the Warfarer with quite a lot of maneuverability that other vocations do not have.

Mirour Shelde

Why focus on healing when you can simply protect your party completely from harm? The Mirour Shelde weapon skill, when upgraded from Mirour Vesture, makes your party invincible for a few precious seconds; however, it can be recast immediately if you’re still staring down a fire-breathing drake. In fact, this skill can trivialize some boss encounters as you cast it over and over again while your Pawns do all the hard, work, conserving your stamina to keep them safe from harm.

Best Dragon’s Dogma 2 Warfarer weapon combinations

Does our Magick Archer and Mystic Spearhand build not suit you? With 9 different weapon types to combine and dozens of weapon skills to choose from, it’s a little daunting to find synergies to create a potent and versatile Warfarer. Don’t fret – we’ve gone ahead and tested several more weapon combinations that worked quite well while felling ogres and minotaurs.

Warrior, Thief, and Archer Warfarer

This is an all-around great melee-and-damage-focused Warfarer as it combines the Warrior’s powerful strikes with the Thief’s maneuverability and great damage output while climbing on larger foes. The Archer is tacked on to the end to provide some ranged utility for enemies that get just a little bit too far away or take to the sky – which happens often. Along with Rearmament, consider taking the Warrior’s Arc of Might for a powerful, stamina-consuming blow, and pairing it with the Thief’s cutting wind for maneuverability. Finally, Exploding Shot is both great at range and for climbing on foes.

Mage and Sorcerer Warfarer

This is the ultimate magic-focused build. Equipping both a Mage staff and a Sorcerer staff will allow you to pull the weapon-buffing Affinity skills from Mage – swappable to match whichever type of foe you’re going up against – while using two other slots of high-damaging Sorcerer spells such as High Hagol. You can also opt for Argent Tonic to keep your Pawns in fighting shape, negating the need to bring another Mage Pawn along with you for healing duties. Just be wary of using too much stamina!

Trickster and Mystic Spearhand Warfarer

The Trickser is by far the most unique vocation in the game but entirely lacks damage output. Giving it the Mystic Spearhand’s base skill (not a weapon skill) Redoubled Bolt to paralyze foes while casting simulacrums to draw enemy aggression combines incredibly well together. Consider taking the weapon skills Suffocating Shroud and Binding Effigy from Trickser, along with Mirour Shielde from Mystic Spearhand to protect you from enemy aggression while swinging around your duospear.

That’s all we have for the best Warfarer skills and weapon combinations; as this vocation utilizes the core skills of the vocations it assumes, you’ll likely want to unlock every class fully. Truly, there’s a lot more combinations and even some unusual ones – a Warrior and Sorcerer, for example – that may hide some hidden strengths that we missed. Experimentation is key in Dragon’s Dogma 2, and no vocation makes it more clear than the Warfarer.

If you’re looking up Warfarer builds, you’re likely nearing the end of your time with Capcom’s fantasy adventure. If that’s the case, our best RPG games might have the next massive title you’ll want to play; furthermore, if you’re itching for more games like Dragon’s Dogma 2, nothing compares to this overview of the games like Monster Hunter. Dragon’s Dogma and Capcom’s other fantasy title share a lot of DNA, after all.
