Escape from Tarkov is a realistic multiplayer shooter with survival elements. How realistic, you ask? How about bullet physics that ricochet inside human bodies? You’ll also have to manage your hydration and patch yourself up after gunfights, which are rare and brief compared with other shooters, but extremely intense. Quake III: Arena, this is not.

If this sounds like your cup of tea so far, check out the video above. We’ve been exploring the Escape from Tarkov alpha, and though there are one or two rough edges, what we found was pretty promising. It’s tense, challenging, very realistic (as far as we can tell, from our extensive experience as PMCs) and rather beautiful to look at.
If you’d like to get into the Escape from Tarkov alpha, you have a percentage chance of access based on the price of the pre-order package you choose. Any pre-order, regardless of the price, guarantees access to the beta, which doesn’t have a launch date yet.
