CCP hit with more layoffs; another 49 employees lose their jobs

CCP layoffs

It is not a great time to be an employee at CCP. The EVE Online developer confirmed that it has laid off another 49 employees, this time in the Reykjavik office, who were part of the publishing side of the company.

“Development teams and plans for EVE Online, EVE: Valkyrie, DUST 514, and ‘Project Legion’ are not impacted by the restructuring,” the studio explained in a statement earlier today.

This happens two months after CCP shut down development of its World of Darkness MMO, which resulted in 56 employees in the Atlanta office losing their jobs. Some were moved to other projects like EVE Online, EVE: Valkyrie and Dust 514.

“As part of our strategy to focus on the EVE Universe, today CCP conducted a restructuring that resulted in the layoff of 49 people in our publishing organization,” CCP said. “Though it is hard to say goodbye to our friends and family, this action concludes the process we started several months ago. CCP has provided severance packages and job placement assistance for those affected.”

In the last year, CCP has laid off at least 120 staff due to “restructuring.”

Cheers, Polygon.
