Fallout 4 PC mods will be transferred and shared to Xbox One

Microsoft appear to have snagged a nice deal with Bethesda regarding Fallout 4 mods: mods created on the PC will be ported over and made available to Fallout 4 players on the Xbox One. That finally gives a console version of a Bethesda game some meaningful parity with their PC cousins.

Bethesda’s Todd Howard said that this was a feature he’s wanted to see for console versions for years, and with Fallout 4, PC mods will be transferrable, shareable, and playable for free on Xbox One.

That seems like kind of a big deal. Finally, console fans can stretch their version of Fallout to the absolute breaking point, just like PC gamers have been doing to Skyrim for years.

Howard didn’t say the feature would be exclusive, or whether PS4 might eventually get the feature. He wouldn’t, standing on the Microsoft stage, but if this is something that will only exist for Xbox One, it lets Microsoft piggyback off the strength of the PC modding scene.

Pointedly, Howard stayed far, far away from discussion of paid mods.
