Far Cry 4 to be set in the Himalayas complete with elephant riding

Far Cry 4 will be in the Himalayas

Far Cry is taking a break from warm climates and jungles, with the next title in Ubisoft’s FPS series taking a trip to the Himalayas, Eurogamer discovered today.

Ubisoft plans to release it in the first half of 2015 and will be revealing more information during it’s annual conference at E3 in June.

Thus far, Far Cry has stuck to tropical islands and dry savannas, so the mountains and snow of the Himalayas are quite the departure.

The most important detail about the new game is that players won’t just be driving vehicles or soaring through the skies on a hang glider: they’ll be able to ride elephants. Think of the possibilities, from charging gun-toting enemies while on the back of a tusked, enraged beast, to jumping off mountainsides, hoping that Dumbo wasn’t filled with lies.

Internet sleuth Superannuation first hinted at the drastic change in locale back in February, also suggesting that Far Cry 4 would have monsters in it. Abominable snowmen, perhaps? Or maybe more of the high-tech dinosaurs we saw in Far Cry 3 spin-off, Blood Dragon.
