Yesterday at PAX East, Square Enix stuck a release date on their next Final Fantasy XIV expansion: Heavensward. Releasing on June 23rd on PC, PS4 and PS3, the expansion will also mark the debut of a Mac version of the game.
Pre-orders will go live on March 16th, where three versions of the game will be available: a standard edition, collectors edition and a version that’s bundled with the base game.
The Heavensward expansion is brimming with new features: three new jobs, flying mounts, a new continent, new loot system and a new race.
There’s also the long-awaited EU servers being constructed, which will minimize lag/latency for EU players currently having to connect to the servers in Canada to play, something I had a strong gripe about in my Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn review.
If you’re itching for a sneak peek at the new expansion, Square Enix have created a very scenic tour of the new zones within Heavensward.
A Mac version of the game is also nearly complete, developed byTransGaming, which should be available come the expansions launch.
