Square Enix has released today a new video detailing the contents of the new patch coming to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn – Through the Maelstrom. The headline feature: the appearance of the water serpent primal, Leviathan. Along with additional quests, more hard mode dungeons and gear glamouring, the patch will also introduce the The Second Coil of Bahamut: a continuation of the games end-game raid.
This is the second patch to hit Final Fantasy XIV since it’s release; you can read what we thought in our A Realm Reborn review.
Here’s the mighty patch preview:
The star of the update is the new primal battle between the heroes of Eorzea and Leviathan, who’s been successfully summoned from his dormant state thanks to the beast tribes. Tightly spun around the main scenario and side quests, the new primal fight aims to be even harder than its predecessors.
More PvE content comes with a brand new dungeon, The Lost City of Amdapor, as well as additional hard modes for existing dungeons. The Lost City of Amdapor was all but destroyed due to the catastrophe of the Fifth Astral Era. Now the demon creature that was responsible stirs from a deep slumber, ready to wreak destruction once again. A hard mode is also arriving for both Halatali and Brayflox’s Longstop featuring new enemies and bosses.
The last major update involves the ability to swap the aesthetics on gear. By using a new ability involving glamours, players can alter the appearance of any item while maintaining the stats of the original.
