Halo Online modders add six more maps from Halo 3 before turning focus on new project

Halo Online new maps

Halo Online is a free-to-play Halo game that’s only available to play in Russia. Not long after its release, however, it was hacked by group of keen Halo enthusiasts and made available elsewhere in the world. Today, the same group announced that they’d shipped six new maps from Halo 3 to the mod, but in the same breath said the plan to focus their efforts elsewhere from hereon in.

One of the most modded games in the world right now is Minecraft – check out our list of the best Minecraft mods.

ElDewrito, as the global version is known (a slant on the Eldorito mod that makes hacked universal use possible), recently announced its version 0.5, which included new maps from Halo Online’s most recent official release. The new map bundle brings with it six Halo 3 maps by way of High Ground, Last Resort, Narrows, Standoff, The Pit and Sandtrap.

Now, it seems the team will be leaving ElDewrito behind. “We have decided to focus our collective efforts on an entirely new project called Anvil Online, which is a mod for Halo Online that has different design goals from ElDewrito,” reads a message that was posted on Reddit earlier today. “We will do our best to keep you updated on our progress on this project. We will create another post later with more details on the project. We welcome the community to continue our efforts in the meantime, while we work hard to bring you the best experience that we possibly can. With every ending is a new beginning. Thanks for all the support.”

At the time of writing, the official Halo Online site is down, even though ElDewrito appears to be functioning fine.

Thanks, VG247.
