Throw shapes and kill demons in ten minutes of Hellblade gameplay

If you’ve been intrigued by Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, but concerned by how little gameplay we’ve seen so far, here’s ten minutes of exactly that, courtesy of IGN.

The new footage sees protagonist Senua on her way to Helheim, the land of the dead. She takes on a number of demonic creatures as disembodied voices comment on her performance; given the game examines trauma and mental health, it seems likely these voices are in her head. They’re frequently negative, muttering comments like “too slow.”

The game still looks very pretty, and it’s informative to see a little of its combat; it seems there’s a time-slowing mechanic. Next up is a bit of exploration and environmental puzzle-solving, before the video cuts out just before an apparent boss fight.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacifice is due for release on August 8 – less than two weeks from now. If you’re already sold, pre-orders will get you a digital comic. It’s on Steam here, and will set you back £24.99 ($29.99).
