Hollowpoint’s story trailer squeezes every dystopian sci-fi premise into a two minute video

Hollowpoint story trailer

Hollowpoint is a co-op sci-fi shooter that blurs the lines between 2D and 3D. It looks like a 2D action game, but threats can come from the foreground and background, turning it into a 3D shooter. I saw it in action back in January, and got particularly delighted when the lovely men from Ruffian Games informed me that I could dress my squad of mercenaries up in bright prink future armour.

Today, Ruffian’s opened the lid on Hollowpoint’s story, and it’s a doozy. It’s like every post-catastrophe sci-fi premise all rolled into one. Is it serious? Satire? Brilliant? Atrocious? I don’t know, but I am ready to thoroughly enjoy how silly it is. Take a gander at the story trailer below.

I can’t help but be reminded of my favourite Rick and Morty episode (actually, they are all my favourite), where the duo sit around watching TV from parallel Earths. It devolves into some loopy improv, advertising what would have undoubtedly been the greatest movie known to humanity; a constantly escalating action movie that didn’t make a lick of sense. Here’s the bit in question.

That is Hollowpoint, or as I will now remember it, Mega Corps Messing Stuff Up And Then There’s A War And Another One And Robots, I Guess, And Oh Crap Now There’s a Storm and More Stuff About Mega Corps: THE GAME.
