Kyn’s a tactical RPG with a different take on monsters

Kyn trailer

Tactical combat is clearly a thing now. It used to be a thing, but a large group of people got together and declared that it would be a thing no longer. Presumably those people are all dead now, or they’ve come to their senses. Just looking at my installed games on Steam I’ve got Blackguards, Divinity: Original Sin and Wasteland 2 all getting up to tactical shenanigans with many more either finished with or yet to come.

And now there’s Kyn, a tactical RPG due out this summer. This is a trend I can get behind. Deploy oculur tools to watch the video below.

On top of some good old tactical combat, Kryn takes place in an evolving world where player actions shape their home. There’s a naughty action to unmask, parties of up to six characters and enemies that adapt to your fighting style.

It also looks like there might be some moral conundrums amid the fighting and exploration of this fantasy realm. “We don’t treat monsters just as traditional monsters,” explains Victor Legerstee, co-founder of Kyn’s developer, Tangrin. “Certain camps have elderly, unarmed women and children in their village they protect.” I do love my agonising decisions.
