Free games: Win a Steam key for Laser League so you can compete in its multiplayer beta this weekend!

Laser League

What you up to this weekend? How do you fancy participating in a neon-charged future-sport? Roll7, the developers of OlliOlli and Not A Hero, are holding a multiplayer beta weekend for their next game, Laser League, this weekend. And you can be part of it – keep reading and we’ll tell you how.

First off, if you’re not familiar with Laser League, allow us to give you a quick rundown. As we explained inour hands-on impressions of the game, Laser League is a competitive arena shooter. Both teams are out to take control of the nodes spread around the arena.

Upon controlling a node, that team gets to lay a laser trap, projectile, or barricade that is capable of herding or otherwise destroying members of the opposing team. The idea is to be the team with the last player standing.

You also get to pick from a number of classes before jumping into a match. Each has their own power: one snipes from a distance, another triggers temporary invulnerability, while a third dishes out melee attacks. It’s using these powers individually and then working as a team for arena control that sets players apart.

The video below gives you a quick guide to Laser League and also offers some tips and tricks to follow in order to rise up the leaderboards.

As to the closed beta this weekend, you can be in with a chance of being selected for it by signing up on the game’s website. If successful, you will be able to play on never-before-seen maps and try out party play, competing in 3v3 matches. The test will run from Fridady, December 15 at 18:00 GMT to Sunday, December 17 at 18:00 GMT.

The developers will be analysing the game’s performance during that period with a view to get it ready for release on Early Access in early 2018. So you might expect some latency and server complications during the test over the weekend but that will hopefully be gone in the final version of the game.
