Will you fistbump your step-dad in Life is Strange: Before the Storm?

Life is Strange Before the Storm

Life is Strange: Before the Storm just got a new gameplay trailer. Despite losing a lot of its key voice acting talent due to strikes and moving to a new developer, it looks like it’s retained the essence of the series.

What is that essence? A breezy, autumnal vibe, indie folk music, and a simulation of the mundane, likely followed by something catastrophic and heartbreaking.

In the latest trailer, developers Deck Nine don’t give too much away. There are some teases of interactions as Chloe wakes up from a night of drinking, and there are some hints of what happened leading up to that point, including a wine stain on the floor.

Aside from that, the choices shown are small: which top should Chloe wear; and should she fistbump her step-dad after helping fix up his car? It’s probably for the best, though, as you’ll want to go into the game not knowing about the gut punches that no doubt follow.

With no rewind mechanic, in Before the Storm you’ll have to live with your choices, too. The prequel’s first episode is due for release on August 31.
