It’s been a long time coming, but MechWarrior Online – which launched in 2013 – has finally made its way over to Steam.
“Launching the game on Steam gives us the ability to introduce the unique and deep gameplay experience of MechWarrior to entirely new audiences,” says Russ Bullock, Piranha Games president.
The free-to-play game has had a somewhat troubled history, with Piranha Games sometimes being at odds with its community, though some major updates and the promise of more to come makes its future look brighter.
“It’s been a long road to today’s update with a lot of challenges that we’ve overcome with the support of the MechWarrior community,” Bullock says, “and we’re looking forward to meeting the new pilots on the battlefield as we continue to expand MechWarrior Online.”
The Steam launch also brings with it four premium DLC packs – all discounted by 20% until December 22nd – containing different classes of mechs.
