Minecraft has taught 85 million young people to code

Microsoft and Code.org have revealed that their Minecraft Hour of Code tutorials have introduced over 85 million young people to coding.

It’s no secret that young people love Minecraft – it’s this generation’s Pokémon – so Microsoft and Code.org have been utilising this passion to teach young people basic coding and computer science.

Code.org have revealed that their Minecraft Hour of Code tutorials have taught over 85 million young people basic coding and computer science.

Minecraft Hour of Code teaches young people simple coding and computer science through free Minecraft-related games, videos, and activities.

“Every student should have the opportunity to learn computer science,” Hour of Code’s website states. “It helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any 21st-century career path.”
