Nier: Automata’s “stupid director” has a special message from the Square Enix marketing team

nier automata yoko taro anniversary message

Nier: Automata is one year old this week, and the world’s been a little bit better and a little bit sadder since those sexy robots stepped into our lives. Director Yoko Taro has recorded a special anniversary message thanking all the game’s supporters, and has been forced to share this message by the Square Enix marketing team.

“When we started this project, I never imagined being able to receive such a great amount of support,” Square Enix tell Taro to say. “Reading everyone’s comments and encouragement from around the world, and being fortunate enough to receive awards too, make the team and I believe it was truly well worth it.”

Taro’s company-penned script also suggests there’s going to be some sort of fan event celebrating the anniversary, and he urges you to reach out to Square Enix Europe and America to find out details on that event.

Honestly, this is just an excuse to post another delightful clip of Yoko Taro behaving strangely. He elbow drops a pillow in this clip. It’s great. Nier: Automata happens to be 50% off on Steam right now, and even with the problems of the PC version it’s still well worth seeing for yourself.
