Not many game studios are as bold as Trek Industries. Back in 2012, the developer released Orion: Dino Beatdown on Steam, which was promptly torn apart in reviews from both press and players. But Trek took this in its stride and continued working on the game, listening to feedback, and rolling out lots of updates.
Fast forward to 2015 and the game has been renamed Orion: Prelude after having over 60 updates. It’s at this point that Trek decide to own the criticism previously levied at it. “The best/worst game on Steam” is how Trek opens up the 2015 relaunch trailer for Orion: Prelude. That may have been true back in 2012, but the Steam reviews tell a different story, with loads of positive ratings and one player even claiming it’s “the best transformation of a game I’ve ever seen.”

Orion: Prelude is still being worked on and is continuing to improve into 2018. What was once a buggy, broken mess is now a supremely silly shooter about taking down dinosaur hordes and looking good doing it – sometimes, this means flying around on a jetpack and slaying lizards with a lightsaber, other times it means wearing pumpkin armour and running through the jungle with your mates as a T-Rex chases you.
That Orion: Prelude is the home of one of the most impressive transformations in PC gaming you might find yourself intrigued as to how it plays these days. If so, you’re in luck, as it’s very cheap during the Steam Summer Sale.
But we wanted to get it into your hands in a more direct way. And what better way to do that than to have a giveaway. We’ve teamed up with Trek Industries to offer Steam keys for Orion: Prelude to 100 lucky winners.
