Rainbow Six Siege devs are “following a few leads” on potential Blackbeard nerfs

Plus Kaid and Nokk buffs

Rainbow Six Siege will soon get its Y4S3.3 update, and while Ubisoft has already detailed several of the big changes coming in that patch – like the Warden update – there are some more substantial updates on the horizon. Final changes are still up in the air, but it looks like the developers are interested in nerfing Blackbeard and bringing buffs to Nokk and Kaid.

“Blackbeard’s win delta is currently on the rise,” the devs say in the latest designer’s notes, and the accompanying graph shows that he’s turning into an outlier. “While we did not expect to see such a steep increase, we are following a few leads. We will continue to monitor his performance to see if tweaking is necessary to keep him on par with other attacking Operators.”

The devs are a bit more specific when it comes to the buffs, but only barely. They’re reviewing suggestions to improve Nokk’s loadout, and say that the “last few weeks of Pro League have shown a few interesting uses of her ability” – but add that it’s a bit premature to do any substantial updates just yet.

As for Kaid, “we would like to offer the Moroccan defender more opportunity to use his secondary gadgets,” and we’ll get more details on that as work progresses.

The devs also say that getting Jackal back into line is “one of our top balancing priorities,” as he is the most banned attacker. The Jackal rework currently on the test server is a good indication of what to expect, and is planned to hit the live game sometime “next season.”
