Red Dead Redemption 2 launches on PC this November

It’s official – Red Dead Redemption 2 is galloping to PCs, and soon. Developer Rockstar has announced that its 2018 wild west adventure is heading to its new Rockstar Launcher Platform, with a Red Dead Redemption 2 PC release date set for November 5. Better get sharpening those Dead Eye skills.

The announcement on Rockstar’s website says that the game will be available to pre-purchase on the Launcher, the studio’s new videogaming platform on PC, from October 9 with “special bonuses available” for those who do. The post also reveals that the game will head to other platforms, “Epic Games store, Greenman Gaming, the Humble Store, GameStop and additional digital retailers starting October 23, with a pre-order bonus of 25 Gold Bars for Red Dead Online.”

It’ll also head to Steam in December, though there’s no pre-purchase or release date given for this launch in the post. There also doesn’t appear to be a page on Steam for the game just yet. In addition, Red Dead Redemption 2 will feature as a “launch title” on the Google Stadia streaming service in November.

The Red Dead Redemption 2 PC version will come with free access to its Online mode, including “all previously released improvements and the latest content updates for the complete online experience.” This includes the Frontier Pursuits and specialist Roles – Bounty Hunter, Trader, and Collector – for players to get through, with “unique rewards” up for grabs.

This announcement confirms rumours that have been circulating for a little while that the game might one day head to PC. There’s been Rockstar Social Club source code, Stadia Rockstar information, a LinkedIn reference, and a ratings application all suggesting a PC release could be on the way. Its predecessor, Red Dead Redemption, wasn’t available on PC so this is an exciting development for PC players keen to get stuck into the wild west adventure.

Rockstar also adds that players will have until October 8 to claim a free copy of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas through the Launcher. Rockstar says it’ll have more information about game systems specifications, screenshots, and other details for the game on October 9.
