Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered will let you be a space asshole next month

red faction guerrilla remaster

Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered now has a release date in addition to its lovably unwieldy title. You’ll be able to make your triumphant and destructive return to Mars on July 3, on both consoles and PC, and they’ve provided a, uh, unique new trailer that you can see below.

The Re-Mars-tered edition will include fully reworked graphics, improved shadow rendering, improved lighting, reworked shaders, and postprocessing, and the addition of native 4K support. THQ Nordic has confirmed that all owners of the original version on Steam will get access to the remaster free of charge.

Stay on top of all the biggest upcoming PC games.

For those who haven’t played Red Faction: Guerrilla, the open-world sci-fi shooter takes place 50 years after the events of the original Red Faction. You take on the role of an “insurgent fighter in the newly re-established Red Faction movement as they battle for liberation from the oppressive Earth Defense Force.”

What that really means is that you have the opportunity to be a Space Asshole, as coined by Chris Remo in a parody song for the podcast Idle Thumbs. That may be a bit of an obscure reference, but I’m not alone in making it – THQ Nordic has gone and overlaid the track on the game’s new trailer.

Red Faction Guerrilla’s Re-Mars-tered edition will feature the same level of mindless demolition we loved in the original. However, if you want to do the game’s name justice, you can utilise guerrilla warfare, and strategic tactics to attack EDF strongholds, and permanently alter the game’s environment. If you would rather put your skills to the test against other players, there’s also the option to take part in multiplayer combat modes.

So if you missed out on the game the first time around or just want to see it again, you’ll be able to in just under a month. Let the space assholery be abundant.
