Resident Evil 7 will finally release on PC next month, January 24, and Capcom seem to think they might have a hit on their hands. In fact, they are hoping for 4 million sales on day one, making it the biggest Capcom title in some time.

Keep an eye on our upcoming PC games list so you’re never left alone in the dark.

“Commercially, [Resident Evil 7] is probably the biggest Capcom game we are releasing on the new machines,” marketing director Antoine Molant explained to MCV.

“Ideally, we’d love to sell 4m on Day One globally. That would be great. Looking at what we see in the pre-orders and trends these days, we’re pretty confident we are going to get there. All the signs that we have seen across the market, whether it’s from the UK or from other territories, are very positive so far.”

He goes on to say they’re not sitting back, but the studio is feeling confident. The immediate future is looking good for Resident Evil 7, then, assuming the marketing predictions are on the nose.

Pre-orders indicate plenty of interest, at least.“To be very frank, they’re very good,” said Molant when asked about pre-order volume.

Apparently pre-orders were even strong before Capcom really started pushing for them, too.“Keeping in mind the real pre-order campaign started a week ago with the Steelbook announcement and some of the Collectors’ Edition announcement… before doing that, they were quite above what we were expecting,” Molant added.

“We’ve got the previews coming out and some more launching in December. On that front, we’re very happy.”

Will you be picking it up in January on day one, or will you be waiting for reviews?
