Occasionally I’m reminded that the goal of The Sims is not the eternal torment of little virtual people, and that sometimes you’ve got to build houses. The Sims 4 boasts a shiny new build mode that looks significantly more convenient and flexible that previous incarnations.
Take a gander at the creation tool in action below.
Pulling and dragging walls to adjust the size of rooms means an end to deleting them just because you cocked up the dimensions. The new, tactile manipulation of buildings looks a lot more intuitive and, not surprisingly, faster.
Chucking in fully-formed rooms is an interesting addition. And since those rooms can then be manipulated and customised, it won’t stop user-created homes from being special little snowflakes.
The way rooms are plonked down and given weight, as they kick up dust when they are dropped, reminds me of the much simpler building editor in SimCity. Though I do hope that The Sims 4 is not plagued with problems and strange design choices like its city-building cousin.
Cheers, VG24/7.
