Saints Row 4 is out now; here’s our Saints Row 4 review.

Saints Row 4 developer Volition has published the first in a promised series of developer diaries in the run up to the game’s release on 23rd August. The first, entitled ‘Love Song’ discusses the thoughts behind the creation of such insanity as the infamous dildo bat.

There’s no real new footage from the upcoming game, but you do get to glimpse a naked flying man. The team gleefully discuss the process behind creating Saints Row’s unique brand of humour, including meetings entirely based on dildos. They also describe the fourth game as a ‘love song’ to their fans for sticking with the franchise. Without them the series wouldn’t be here today, Volition say.

They have a point; back in 2006 many people would no doubt claim that a GTA clone wouldn’t survive beyond its first iteration. Yet now we have a four-quel, which is roughly 370% more bonkers than its more gangsa-led great grandfather. Good on the fans for sticking with it.
