Sea of Thieves has a Day one patch, but it’s not exactly what you’d expect. Posts to the game’s official subreddit reveal the presence of the update, which focuses on new cosmetic items.
You’re (probably) not there yet, but here’s how the Sea of Thieves endgame plays out.
In standard Rare fashion, however, the Day One patch is a pretty literal explanation. It’s a literal eyepatch, with the number ‘1’ embossed on it. The item’s description read’s “a message in a bottle from Jolly Jefabell washed ashore. Eye patch makers read it and said ‘aye’.
That’s a reference to a Reddit thread from last month, in which user Jefabell encouraged Rare to embrace the pun potential. Clearly the developers were amused, and as such you can pick up the Day One Patch from general clothing stores.
Sea of Thieves is live now across all regions. Some players found they could get into the game early last night by switching servers, but I imagine the need for that is now largely reduced.
