I’ve pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I won’t be able to play SOMA unless I’m in a crowded, well-lit room and maybe my mum is nearby. Frictional are just too good at scaring the colour off my hair.
The latest trailer reaffirms this by showing off, but not too clearly, the horrible beasties that prowl the underwater research facility which has been transformed into some kind of nightmare factory.
Threatening whispers, a shaky, distorted camera, inhuman shapes scrambling around in the dark – yeah, I’m going to struggle with this one. Perhaps I’ll be able to find some previously unknown reserve of bravery, however, and I dearly hope so because I’d rather not only be able to play it at parties.
SOMA is due out on September 22nd.
