Taking more than a pinch of inspiration from the Dark Souls, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order puts you up against a challenging boss pretty much as soon as it sets you free on the planet of Bogano. This clash of man and alien toad is pretty tricky if you stumble upon it in your first few minutes of gameplay, but there’s a much easier way to defeat the amphibian.
Of course, you could leave this fight for a bit later in the game when you have a few more Force abilities – that way you can easily cut off Oggdo Bogdo’s tongue for the ‘Cal Got Your Tongue’ trophy/achievement.
Whenever you decide you face this beast, the tips below should see you through the encounter with ease so you can get back to more important things than slaying fauna. You know, like rebuilding the Jedi Order and stopping the Second Sister.
How to beat Jedi: Fallen Order Oggdo Bogdo
Instead of running down the staircase and directly into the toad’s lair (do toads even have lairs?) stay on top of the cave and look around for hole in the ground that will drop you directly on top of Oggdo Bogdo, letting you perform a powerful dropping attack that removes half of its health.
Of course, you’ll still need to deal with the other half of the health bar yourself, which can be tricky. It’s best to avoid parries completely for this fight and focus entirely on dodges and dodge-rolls.
There are two main attacks to watch out for: a leap that carries the toad across the arena and deals a lot of damage if it connects, and an attack where Oggdo Bogdo tries to stick you with its long tongue. Both attacks are signposted by a red glow, but it’s crucial you don’t dodge-roll too early, as if you do the strike will still connect. Oggdo Bogdo’s other attacks are a lot simple and merely require a simple back or sidestep to avoid, so switching between the two rhythms can be challenging. Simply strike conservatively and you’ll soon whittle the toad’s health down.
If you prefer to cheese your boss encounters then you can simply wait at the entrance to the lair, strike Oggdo Bogdo, and then retreat. Rinse and repeat until its vanquished.
How to cut off Oggdo Bogdo’s tongue
If you’re chasing the trophy then there are two ways to cut off Oggdo Bogdo’s tongue in Jedi: Fallen Order. The first method is the one you can do early into the game using Force Slow. Wait for the tongue attack, use Force Slow and sidestep the strike, then use an overhead slash to cut the tongue off.
The other method will require the Force Pull ability. Simply stand in front of Oggdo Bogdo and Force Pull to drag the tongue out, then use a melee strike and Cal will slice off the tongue.
