Star Wars: The Old Republic double XP events kick off today

In this busy world of new popes and cable cars there’s scarce enough time to keep abreast of current events let alone sinking hundreds of hours into an MMO, seeking to top out your character’s level. Recognising this, Bioware have announced a set of double XP weekends, hoping to halve your time in getting to level 55.

The first of these events is already underway, kicking off yesterday in the States but early this morning for those of us in Europe, seeing all XP gains doubled till Monday.

As published by Bioware, here are the details for the other upcoming weekends:

  • March 22, 2013 beginning at 2:00 p.m. ET to March 25, 2013 at 3:00 a.m. ET
  • March 29, 2013 beginning at 2:00 p.m. ET to April 1, 2013 at 3:00 a.m. ET
  • April 5, 2013 beginning at 2:00 p.m. ET to April 8, 2013 at 3:00 a.m. ET

There’s no word on how regularly these events will appear, this is the first of its kind we’ve seen in Bioware’s MMO. Considering it covers the run up to the release of The Old Republic’s first content expansion, The Rise of the Hutt Cartel, it could be that we’ll see another month of double XP weekends at the release of their next expansion pack, or maybe Bioware will just litter them about the year with no rhyme nor reason.
