Play pirates JRPG-style in Tales of Berseria’s free demo, now available

Tales of Berseria

The latest in the storied ‘Tales’ franchise of JRPGs, Tales of Berseria, is coming out soon, and you can get a taste of the doubtless epic adventure that lies in store via a free demo.

If you like this, you’ll love the best RPGs on PC.

If you just heard the words “free demo” and are already sold, head on over to Steam, click the button on the right that says ‘Download Demo’ and enjoy (why not tell us what you think in the comments?)

If you need a little more convincing, let’s tell you some more about it.

Billed as “a tale of emotion versus reason”, Tales of Berseria will take you on a journey of self-discovery as you assume the role of Velvet Crowe, a once-kind young woman turned bitter by a traumatic experience three years before the game starts. Harbouring “a festering anger and hatred”, you’ll join a crew of pirates, plundering and pillaging the many islands of the kingdom of Midgand.

The Tales series of Japanese action-RPGs has been around since Tales of Phantasia back in 1995. Considered an iconic JRPG franchise alongside Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy, it has a reputation for delivering compelling characters and storytelling on an epic scale.

Developed by the veteran Tales team within Bandai Namco, Tales of Berseria is due for release on January 26. Pre-orders are live now, and will set you back £39.99 (or $49.99 US). If you’d like more information, check out the Tales of blog.
