There’s now a demo for The Evil Within 2, letting you play the opening chapters for free

the evil within 2 demo free trial

The Evil Within 2 is a pretty exceptional horror game that improves on its predecessor in every meaningful way. But maybe you didn’t have a chance to play it. Maybe you’re not sure the game’s for you. Well, in addition to publishing a statistically significant number of single-player games this year, Bethesda are offering another old-school goody for prospective players: a demo.

Find out what makes this terror so good in our Evil Within 2 review.

A free trial for The Evil Within 2 went live earlier today, offering up a gratis glance at the game’s opening chapters for players across all platforms. You can pick up the PC free trial on Steam if you’re up for squeezing a 37GB download onto your hard drive.

Bethesda aren’t specific about where the trial cuts off (and sadly the fast-paced world of game news doesn’t allow for mid-day demo breaks), but it does at least last long enough to give you a taste of Sebastian’s customization options. Any progress you make in the trial will also carry over into the full game.

If you like what you see, it so happens that the game is half-off today, bringing the price down to a terrifying frugal $29.99 / £19.99 / €29.99. If you want an even more immersive experience, check out the hidden first-person mode in The Evil Within 2.
