The Flame in the Flood will release on Early Access September 24th

The Flame in the Flood is a post-apocalyptic rogue-lite that is about as far from what that sounds like as it can be. It’s one of the many (many, many, many) indie games to come out of the break-up of Irrational, as Joel explained in our sponsored preview a few months back. It looks gorgeous and manages to blend the isometric RPG with the survival game in what looks like it could play quite well. Now we’ll get to find out when the game enters Early Access on Steam later this month.

In the announcement post developers The Molasses Flood also mention that there’s a significant update coming to the game from the one that has been with Kickstarter backers for a while. It introduces a whole new area, a system for helping you to explore for longer by letting you upgrade your raft and an endless mode that’s all about survival.

It’s $19.99 to get involvednow and Molasses say that’s how much it will be at launch too, barring any sales. They plan to be in Early Access for about 6 months and are only a few months behind their July estimate of getting the game out, so that may prove accurate. As is the wonder of Early Access, it’s possible the scope and plan for the game will expand if the interest is there, so we’ll have to wait and see.

Here’s the first trailer:

There’s a tonne of footage out there from backers and ‘Tubers that have had access to early builds if you want to see more.
