Warface is a free-to-play military shooter that launched way back in 2013, at which point Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s influence was rampant across the shooter genre and certainly extended to Warface – at least in its aesthetics.
More than six years later, Warface has racked up a staggering 80 million registered players across all platforms. It’s also a lot more distinctive, and never more so than since a huge, ongoing update – almost a mini-reboot – began rolling out in September this year.
Less than a week ago, a brand new PvE mission named Operation Hydra hit the game as part of that update. You’ll be part of a three-person team aiming to capture the titular Hydra, a mobile naval base bristling with heavy artillery, owned and operated by greedy multinational corporation Blackwood. You and your teammates will need to pick your classes carefully to take on 20 waves of soldiers, cyborgs, and mini-bosses from Blackwood’s private army.
While Hydra will remind you of previous SpecOps, it makes a number of refinements, including a new loot system with flashy, specially skinned guns dropping from the 10th wave onward. Check out the website for more details.
To celebrate Hydra’s release and the holiday season, we’re giving away 100 special Warface Christmas packs. Each has a $50 value and can’t be bought in-game, meaning each pack contains items that you won’t be able to obtain otherwise, including:
- An icicle knife
- A candy cane knife
- A Desert Eagle pistol with a sparkly red and gold skin
- A Christmas Firecracker
- 50 Christmas Grenades
- 50 Snowballs
- 50 Christmas gift boxes
