Chucklefish’s “Stardew Valley meets Harry Potter” RPG is now called Witchbrook

Chucklefish, who you may know best as the publishers of Stardew Valley, are putting out another game filled with charming NPCs and old-school heart, and this time they’re developing it internally. Pitched a full year ago as “Stardew Valley meets Harry Potter,” we’ve been calling it Spellbound all this time – but now, the game has an official title.

CEO Finn Brice tweeted a new logo for the game earlier today, finally revealing its proper title: Witchbrook. Or possibly WitchBrook, but we’re not going to start intercapping until we’re forced to.

The details we’ve gotten on the game have been mostly thematic, with the crew citing everything from Terry Pratchett to Studio Ghibli as influences. It will have something like Stardew’s town simulation elements – but applied to a school setting – and there was 2D Zelda-style combat last we heard.

Stardew Valley creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone is working on a secret new game, but we’ll be waiting a while longer before we hear much more about that. At least we’ll have horse hats to enjoy until all these new games come out.
