Bethesda have released the debut trailer for The Evil Within, the project formerly known as Zwei, just in time to ruin your lunch. It’s a by-turns dank, disturbing and downright disgusting jump-cut trip around an abandoned school / asylum / mansion / hospital / abomination’s playground.

You have Tango Gameworks to thank for that. They’re the studio founded by Resident Evil creator and former Capcom captain Shinji Mikami.

“We’re incredibly proud to announce The Evil Within,” said Mikami. “My team and I are committed to creating an exciting new franchise, providing fans the perfect blend of horror and action.”

An early screenshot suggests that the game will employ the third-person, over-the-shoulder perspective long-established in the Resident Evil series. Also that there won’t be enough blood packs in the world to fuel its eventual Hollywood adaptation.

The Evil Within is in development for PC, alongside both current and future consoles, and we can expect to hear more of it on Monday. What do you think of it, gore-faced safe-men and all?
