Oculus VR snatches up makers of the Xbox 360 controller and Kinect

Oculus acquires 360 controller designers

Oculus VR is done with acquiring individuals; now it’s gobbling up companies. The VR behemoth – while its yet to release a commercial product – is clearly attempting to devour the entire world. The company’s latest acquisition is the Carbon Design Group, otherwise known as the creators of the iconic Xbox 360 controller along with Kinect.

The Carbon Design Group has actually been working with Oculus VR for a year, developing unannounced projects, the company revealed today.

“A few seconds with the latest Oculus prototypes and you know that virtual reality is for real this time. From a design and engineering perspective, building the products that finally deliver consumer virtual reality is one of the most interesting and challenging problem sets ever,” said Peter Bristol, Creative Director at Carbon Design.

“This is an entirely open product category. With consumer VR at its inception, the physical architectures are still unknown — We’re on the cutting edge of defining how virtual reality looks, feels, and functions,” he continued. “We’re incredibly excited to be part of the team and we’re looking forward to helping design the future.”

Are you still not employed by Oculus VR? Keep an eye on these job vacancies, or you might be the only person on the planet who isn’t developing virtual reality projects.
