That they are touting the story at all is, I hope, a sign that we’re going to get a single-player campaign that isn’t just a dreary prologue to the meaty multiplayer. And while no mention of the story itself passes creative director Bret Robbins’ lips, he does mention all the things they are doing to make the shooter feel authentic.

Sledgehammer chatted to Delta Force folk and Navy Seals to get the military side of things nailed down, and consulted futurists so their near-future vision was grounded.

The studio’s also using the same actors for voice performances and motion capture, which is a different route from the norm. Clearly Sledgehammer are attempting to ape cinema quite a bit, which is no bad thing given how much the modern Call of Duty series owes to Hollywood action flicks.
