CoD: Modern Warfare’s Battle Pass is coming “slightly later”

The Call of Duty: Modern Wrafare Battle Pass will arrive "slightly later than originally planned"

Last month, Infinity Ward revealed that it was “introducing a new Battle Pass system, not a loot box system” to its newly released FPS game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Similarly to systems used in other titles, this will add new content to the game in seasonal rotations, and, although it seems it’s a little behind schedule, it’s due to arrive next month.

According to publisher Activision’s Q3 2019 earnings call (transcribed by MFTranscribers) published this week, the new CoD: Modern Warfare Battle Pass will launch this December, “slightly later than originally planned.”

In the call, Activision’s president Robert Kostich said of the new system: “We feel it’s the right thing to do for the game and how it’s designed, and more importantly we think it’s the right thing to do for our players.” He added, “That launch is still ahead of us, but we’ve been really encouraged by the early response from the community to the change that we’re making there.”

When does the Modern WARFARE BATTLE Pass launch?

There’s no exact date to mark on our calendars just yet, but we now know it’s due December. While players will have to wait until sometime next month for the Modern Warfare Battle Pass to begin, there’s some exciting new content to get stuck into in the meantime – today, in fact. Just arrived piping hot from the studio are some new free maps – “the first free content drop for Modern Warfare” – with Shoot House now added to Multiplayer, and Krovnik Farmland available in Ground War.

Going live today, the free goodies also include the Hardpoint mode entering rotation, and ‘Shoot House 24/7’ – with a “mixture of Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed, and Headquarters.” If you’re yet to dive into the game, you might find our Call of Duty: Modern Warfare review handy.

In the earnings call, Kostich said, “We did eliminate the season pass and instead we will be focused on dropping free content to the community, so everyone can enjoy it together.”
