Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s system requirements are now live on Battle.net. Activision’s battle royale based on the famed franchise launched on October 25, 2019, and it demands 175GB of disk space available for the game files. Crikey.
Compared to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s system requirements, which initially called for a whopping 32GB of RAM but has since been dropped to 16GB, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s specs list is rather tame. Even the recommended requirements are well within reach for many, with Nvidia’s GTX 970, one of the most popular cards of the Maxwell generation, just scraping by.
As for your PC’s brain, you can get by with a moderate Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 chip with access to 12GB or more of system memory. If that’s a little much, minimum requirements are far more lax, with even Intel Core i3 chips from the Haswell days reportedly good to go alongside 8GB of memory.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will also launch as an Nvidia RTX title. While most Nvidia cards technically support ray tracing, you’ll want an RTX 20-series graphics card with dedicated silicon to really get the most out of the rendering tech.
But if that mammoth storage requirement is getting you down, or if you simply refuse to delete all of your holiday photos for a chance to play COD, don’t fret. SSD prices recently took a dive down to earth earlier this year and never really recovered, and some of the speediest drives going are now cheaper than ever. You can find the full list in our best SSD for gaming guide.

For the record, when Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 first launched it required just 80GBs of your precious disk space.
But with Red Dead Redemption 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare both requiring over 150GBs of disk capacity – which I believe is entirely down to the hefty moustache textures required by both titles – the holiday season could be an absolute gold mine for SSD manufacturers.
