Dark Souls III patch 1.09 buffs daggers, nerfs OP swords and lengthens enchantments

Dark Souls 3 patch 1.09

Nothing can be clear, clean and simple in the world of Dark Souls. The plot is labyrinthine, the maps humongous – even the patch notes aren’t allowed to be exact. Thankfully, the community helps with that, and for patch 1.09 popular fansite Fextralife has already dug many of the exact changes from From Software’s own less-than-informative notes.

The PCGN picks for greatest ever RPGs makes clear our love for Dark Souls.

Release on July 1, regulation 1.09 is focused on rebalancing weapons and items over any serious system changes. Here’s the changes with the most significant impact:

  • All Dagger weapons: increased critical attack power – according to Fextralife, most daggers moved up to 120 crit, with some going as high as 140.
  • Dark Sword: reduced weapon efficiency – about 5% according to the hardcore.
  • All shield-piercing weapons: added shield-piercing properties to regular attacks – light attacks still don’t, but heavy attacks will.
  • All Skills that enchant a weapon with special properties: extended length of effect – various increases, most up to 45 or 25 seconds depending on power.

You can read the official changes on the Steam page, while the Fextralife thread is also littered with various videos and information from community members. Their wiki is also being updated.

Thanks, PCG.
